PRESS
The Partnership for Research in Sustainable Agriculture (PRESS) is a great source of funding for teams of industry members and researchers working to solve problems related to sustainable aquaculture. Seven teams have already received grants totaling over $300,000 to work on seven projects ranging from contamination of aquaculture gear by roosting birds to strategies to increase sales of overlooked and underserved fish species. PRESS is currently accepting new proposals on a rolling basis. PRESS was launched in 2023 and led by Marta Gomez-Chiarri, professor of Aquaculture/Fisheries in the URI College of the Environment and Life Sciences. It is funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and supports the development of innovative solutions to challenges facing the state’s seafood sector.
